SWIVEL JOINTS

Pipelines, which are rigid structures, can be rendered movable by using swivel joints. This is necessary where the use of a hose is unacceptable. The pipelines maintain their characteristics for carrying fluids and gain the advantage of 360° rotation in all planes.

Swivel joints are used where easy handling, operational safety and low-wear characteristics are required. The rotation function is achieved by means of one or two integrated ball tracks comparable to ball-bearings. The ball tracks are hardened and precision ground, with the exception of the aluminium version.

  • Types: multi-purpose, high pressure, cryogenic, abrasive, PTFE-lined
  • Diameters: 1” up to 24” in diameter
  • Wide range of construction materials dependent upon the media being transferred

Emco Wheaton D0002 Swivel Joint

Emco Wheaton D0002 Swivel Joint

The D0002 swivel joint forms the basis for swivel joints with one ball track. It has a minimal structural length, external diameter and weight.

The internal flange makes it possible to change the seal without removing the swivel joint from the pipeline. The D0002 swivel joint can be re-lubricated via grease nipples. If required, the balls can be removed and replaced by first removing the ball track plug.

This heavy duty swivel joint is ideal for most applications. The ball track is hardened and polished, giving the swivel joint a high degree of running precision and long service life, even under extreme loads. The sealing surfaces are plated with stainless steel and precision-finished to prevent corrosion. This ensures that the seal that slides along these sealing surfaces is not damaged and will seal perfectly.

Normal attitude, horizontal or vertical.

Emco Wheaton D1010 Swivel Joint

Emco Wheaton D1010 Swivel Joint

The D1010 is the standard swivel joint with two ball tracks. It is usually used where large size swivel joints have to take heavy loads (typically for marine loading arms). Both ball tracks of the carbon steel version are hardened and polished, giving the swivel joint a high degree of load capacity and long service life, even under extreme loads.

The internal flange makes it possible to change the seal without removing the swivel joint from the pipeline.

The sealing surfaces are plated with stainless steel and precision-finished to prevent corrosion, ensuring that the seal that slides along these sealing surfaces is not damaged and will seal perfectly.

The D1010 swivel joint, made of a special aluminium alloy, is not supplied with hardened ball tracks due to material characteristics. It is therefore suitable for normal loads only. Aluminium swivel joints have no specially plated seal faces due to the chosen alloy.

The D1010 swivel joint can be re-lubricated via grease nipples. If required, the balls can be removed and replaced by first removing the ball track plugs.

Normal attitude, horizontal or vertical.

Emco Wheaton D1133 Swivel Joint

Emco Wheaton D1133 Swivel Joint

Our D1133 swivel joint is a variant of the basic D0002. It’s the ideal swivel joint for nearly all applications in the chemical industry and has a minimal structural length, external diameter and weight.

In the D1133 swivel joint the ball track is encapsulated by two O-rings so neither dirt from the outside nor product from within (in case of leakage) can reach the ball track. Should the main seal fail, leakage is indicated through the leak detection ports.

The internal flange makes it possible to change the seal without removing the swivel joint from the pipeline. The D1133 swivel joint can be re-lubricated via grease nipples if it is not provided with life time grease. If required, the balls can be removed and replaced by first removing the ball track plug.

The ball track of the steel version is hardened and polished. This gives the swivel joint a high degree of running precision and long service life, even under extreme loads. The sealing surfaces are plated with stainless steel and precision-finished to prevent corrosion, ensuring that the seal that slides along these sealing surfaces is not damaged and will seal perfectly.

The D1133 swivel joint in stainless steel is used for applications where aggressive media are encountered internally and externally, and therefore the internal parts as well as the external parts are made of stainless steel. Depending on the expected load the ball track can be hardened or unhardened. If hardened, a special alloy is welded into the raw material before mechanical processing.

Normal attitude, horizontal or vertical.

Emco Wheaton D2000 - PTFE Swivel Joint

Emco Wheaton D2000 - PTFE Swivel Joint

Our D2000 - PTFE swivel joint is a variant of the basic form. It is internally lined with PTFE and is equipped with a special seal, making it suitable for extremely aggressive products.

The ball tracks are encapsulated by two O-rings so neither dirt from the outside nor product from within (in case of leakage) can reach the ball track.

Should the main seal fail, leakage is indicated through the leak detection port. This port is PTFE sleeved, thus product contact with carbon steel components is prevented.

The bearing module with its deep flame hardened ball race and the specially designed seals guarantees a reliable and long life working swivel joint. The bearing module and the seals can be easily replaced. All carbon steel parts can be made with stainless steel.

The D2000 - PTFE swivel joint is equipped with special flanges. The connection flanges for the pipes are included in the swivel joint order. These flanges are welded to the pipes and then PTFE lined as an assembly.

The use of the new, multifunctional D2000 swivel joint optimizes nearly all liquid transports.

Whether in the mineral oil, food or chemical industry, the D2000 meets the highest standards.

Due to its sandwich design, the bearing module is separated from the product-carrying components. It can therefore be used as a standard swivel joint for nearly all media with temperatures ranging from -45 °C to +250 °C.

TODO Hose Swivels

TODO Hose Swivels

Developed originally as part of the TODO-MATIC coupling construction, then subsequently as a standalone product, TODO hose swivels have proven themselves in the toughest applications for over 20 years.

Their hose swivels are used mainly to allow free hose movement without imparting torque stresses to the assembly (one of the biggest causes of premature hose failure).

Benefits:

  • Simple design, low maintenance
  • Very compact
  • High flow rate / low pressure drop
  • Full range of sizes, materials and connections
  • Stainless steel bearings and single 'O' ring seal for reliability
